‘We read to go to places that our everyday lives don’t make available to us’ – Craig Higginson on his new novel The Book of Gifts
 More about the book!

Pan Macmillan SA has shared a video interview with award-winning author Craig Higginson, discussing his fourth novel, The Book of Gifts.

Described as Higginson’s ‘most riveting and groundbreaking novel to date’, The Book of Gifts takes the reader on a dangerous and unforgettable journey between the lush beaches of uMhlanga Rocks, the stark midwinter wastes of Johannesburg and the rich and strange coral reefs of Mauritius.

‘We don’t read books because we want to read likeable characters,’ Higginson says in the interview. ‘We don’t read because the people are nice people. We read because they provoke different responses in us.

‘We read in order to go to places that our everyday lives don’t necessarily make available to us.’
