Trevor Noah pays tribute to his school English teacher in Nielsen Booksellers Choice Award acceptance speech
 More about the book!

Trevor Noah was awarded the Nielsen Booksellers Choice Award last week – a prize for South African booksellers’ favourite book – for his autobiography Born A Crime and Other Stories.

In his acceptance speech, Noah thanks his readers and South African booksellers.

‘It’s not just my story, it’s a story that we share in South Africa, so it means a lot to me that South Africans enjoyed it,’ he said.

Noah also jokingly thanked his school English teacher, for ‘forcing me to write essays when I didn’t want to’.

It was a busy week for Noah, whose book was also publicly recommended by Hollywood star Tyler Perry and nominated for the prestigious Thurber Prize for American Humor.
