 More about the book!

Pan Macmillan has revealed the cover for Fiona Snyckers’s forthcoming novel, Lacuna!

The book will be out in April.

‘A powerful and brilliant critique of both JM Coetzee’s Disgrace and contemporary South Africa. Fiona Snyckers makes the reader ponder deeply one minute and laugh loudly the next. A must read.’
– Zukiswa Wanner

Lacuna is a response to JM Coetzee’s Disgrace, written from the point of view of Lucy Lurie.

The book is the second to be published recently that responds to a Coetzee novel, after Nthikeng Mohlele’s Michael K, a response to JM Coetzee’s Life and Times of Michael K, which was published by Pan Macmillan last year.

About Lacuna

Deeply sunk in post-traumatic stress disorder following a gang rape at her father’s farmhouse in the Western Cape, Lacuna is a moving story of Lucy Lurie. She won’t be silenced. Her rape is not a metaphor. This is her story, and no one can take it away from her.

About the author

Snyckers is the author of the Trinity series of novels for young adults, and the Sisterz series of mobile phone novels, which was commissioned by the Shuttleworth Foundation. Her most recent novel, Now Following You, is a thriller published by Modjaji Books. She has been longlisted for the Sunday Times Literary Award four times, and has published numerous short stories in magazines and collections.
