[Watch] Rosie Hewlett introduces Medea, a fascinatingly complex, staggeringly powerful woman
 More about the book!

Penguin Random House has released a video of author Rosie Hewlett introducing her new novel Medea, a breathtaking tale of loyalty, persecution and betrayal.

This is a spellbinding retelling of Medea from the author of Medusa, which breathes new life into perhaps Greek mythology’s darkest heroine.

‘Medea has been remembered by history as the vengeful wife of Jason, but Medea is so much more than that,’ Hewlett says. ‘She is a fascinatingly complex woman, a woman who is so staggeringly powerful in a world when women weren’t allowed to be powerful.

‘And the way she navigates that world and everything that she achieves throughout her life is so impressive and empowering, as well as being heartbreaking.

‘Everything that she goes through and what it ultimately does to her as a person is really gut-wrenching but also the kind of fascinating story that you just can’t look away from.’
