Die wêreldbekende skrywer Jodi Picoult se roman Plain Truth het vanjaar by Jonathan Ball Uitgewers verskyn as Die belydenis. Daniel Hugo het die storie in Afrikaans omskep.

Jodi het onlangs via Skype by Die Groot Ontbyt aangesluit. In die onderhoud gesels sy oor haar skrywerslewe: hoe dit als begin het en die stories en tema’s wat haar inspireer.

Oor die feit dat haar romans tans in meer as 34 tale beskibaar is, sê Jodi: ‘When I started writing, I was just happy that anyone other than my mother was buying copies of my book. So this is a dream. It’s a dream to be an international bestseller, and to have books translated all over the world.’

Jodi was al meer as sewe keer in Suid-Afrika. Sy sê: ‘There are lots of reasons why I love South Africa. I have the best publisher there – Jonathan Ball is amazing and the people who work for Jonathan Ball are extraordinary. South Africans are passionate readers, so when I meet people who’ve read my books they’re so committed to the stories that I love talking to them about my novels.’
