Barnes is the author of 13 novels, including The Sense of an Ending and The Noise of Time. He has also written three books of short stories, four collections of essays and two books of non-fiction, Nothing to be Frightened Of and the Sunday Times number one bestseller Levels of Life. In 2017 he was awarded the Légion d’honneur.
Three things you may not know about Julian Barnes:
1 Barnes worked briefly as a lexicographer after graduating from Magdalen College, Oxford.
2 He won the Man Booker Prize for his book The Sense of an Ending.
3 He earned the reputation of a very fine crime fiction writer with the pen name ‘Dan Kavanagh’.
