The committee praised Dangarembga for her ‘ability to capture and communicate vital truths even amidst times of upheaval’.

PEN Pinter Prize judge, publisher and judge of the Jacana Literary Foundation and The Other Foundation’s Gerald Kraak Award Ellah P Wakatama said:
