‘There are so many different themes in this book that I feel could resonate with people’ – Iman Rappetti discusses her book Sermons of Soul
More about the book!
Iman Rappetti chatted to Polity SA recently about her most recent book, Sermons of Soul.
Sermons of Soul features the best-loved opening segments from Rappetti’s award-winning radio show, PowerTalk.
With each daily sermon, Rappetti sought to reach out to her listeners and give them something special before the day’s tough subjects unfolded on the programme. She wanted to create a moment for them to feel appreciated, thought of, challenged or cared for.
‘I try not to give prescriptions to people of how they should encounter my book and how they should read,’ Rappetti says. ‘What I would hope for is whatever they read on this page brings up an internal connection, whether it is about how unpredictable life is, and yet we have everything we need within ourselves to deal with and roll with whatever life throws us.
‘Or if it’s about a call to action, something we might not have thought about that maybe we finally open our eyes to and realise, oh, I didn’t think about it quite that way and maybe I can get involved.
‘There are so many different themes in this book that I feel could resonate with people on any given day.’
