Sweet Cherry signs distribution deal with Penguin Random House South Africa

Sweet Cherry Publishing has signed a deal with Penguin Random House South Africa for exclusive distribution across 17 African countries.

Territories secured in the agreement are Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

The Leicester-based independent children’s press, recently shortlisted for The Bookseller’s Independent Publisher of the Year award, publishes an array of humorous fiction series as well as adapted and illustrated classics which attract booksellers and teachers across the world.

Steve Connolly, CEO of Penguin Random House South Africa, said: ‘For us, it is a privilege to be able to work with such an innovative and entrepreneurial company. You can see these qualities in their books and their approach to publishing as a business. We’re looking forward to making Sweet Cherry Publishing a South African favourite.’

Last year two significant distribution deals were signed – BTPS in the USA and Canada and PMS Publisher Services in Malaysia and Singapore – which contributed to a 416% soar in international sales in 2019.

The agreement is in place effective immediately.
