Sue Nyathi will be on the patio with Pippa Smith to discuss her books, The Polygamist and The Gold Diggers (20 July)
 More about the book!

Sue Nyathi, author of The Polygamist and The Gold Diggers, will be chatting to Pippa Smith of The Book Revue this month.

About the book

The Gold Diggers is a story of migration and sadness, heartbreak and some good luck. It is 2008 and the height of Zimbabwe’s economic demise. A group of passengers is huddled in a Toyota Quantum about to embark on the treacherous journey to Joburg. Amongst them is Gugulethu, who is hoping to be reconciled with her mother; Dumisani, an ambitious young man who believes he will strike it rich, Chamunorwa and Chenai, twins running from their troubled past; and Portia and Nkosi, a mother and son desperate to be reunited with a husband and father they see once a year.

You follow the characters hoping that all will be well: for some it will be and for others, it will be one more step on the road of sadness and loss.

Be warned – this is not a fairytale. It will, like all good works of fiction, take you into a different world and immerse you into the hopes and dreams of others’ lives.
