Crime Writers Association Dagger Awards shortlists announced – including Nigerian author Leye Adenle

The shortlists for the prestigious UK Crime Writers Association Dagger Awards have been announced.

The Daggers are awarded annually in 10 categories. This year, two stories from Sunshine Noir, an anthology of crime fiction from warmer climes, have been shortlisted for the CWA Short Story Dagger: Leye Adenle is shortlisted for ‘The Assassination’, and Ovidia Yu is shortlisted for ‘Snakeskin’.

Nigerian writer Adenle’s debut novel, Easy Motion Tourist, was published at the end of 2016.

Sunshine Noir is edited by award-winning duo Michael Stanley (the pen name of Michael Sears and Stanley Trollip) and AnnaMaria Alfieri.

Mari Hannah has won this year’s Dagger in the Library, awarded for a body of work by a crime writer that users of libraries particularly admire; while Ann Cleeveswas awarded the Diamond Dagger, the highest honour in British crime writing.
