Cover reveal! Angela Makholwa’s The Blessed Girl is heading for the United Kingdom
The United Kingdom cover for Angela Makholwa’s The Blessed Girl has been revealed!
The book has been signed on by publisher Bloomsbury Publishing UK and will be released in June-July 2019.
Makholwa made the reveal on her Facebook page, saying: ‘There some changes to the original The Blessed Girl read by SA audiences. If you’re one of the readers who came to me with a bloodshot look of vengeance in your eyes because of Bontle’s fate in the original version, you will find your light at the end of the proverbial tunnel because this version has a much happier ending. Don’t say I didn’t tell you!’
The Blessed Girl, which looks at the dynamics of the modern day phenomenon of blessers from the vantage point of a blessee herself, has been a huge hit in South Africa, and could be heading for the big screen. Eusebius McKaiser called it ‘a stunning book’ and praised ‘the searing social commentary beneath the humour’.
