Zukiswa Wanner was in the 702/Cape Talk studio to chat to Eusebius McKaiser today.
Wanner is a South African journalist and novelist, born in Zambia and now based in Kenya. She is the author of a number of books, including The Madams, Men of the South, Behind Every Successful Man, Maid in SA: 30 Ways to Leave Your Madam and London – Cape Town – Joburg, as well as a children’s book, Refilwe, a retelling of Rapunzel in a southern African setting.
Wanner chatted about her writing, her relationship with South Africa, the history of homosexuality in Africa, and her yearning for a white domestic worker …
‘The most far-out stuff that happens in my novels is actually what’s true. Every time!’ Wanner says. ‘And the things that they believe, those are my creation.’
