Stunning illustrations of the fruiting twigs of South African trees are companions to an up-to-the-minute text in which the old, new and ‘best’ common names are given for each tree.

The illustrations capture the beauty of tree fruits because it can be difficult to identify tree species from their leaves. Fruits, like flowers, have much more stable shapes and sizes, and, unlike flowers, are more persistent.

This book represents 40 years’ work by the author and was published in partnership with the Botanical Society of South Africa.
