Join Johan Raath for a Recce Story Night in Pretoria
 More about the book!

Blood Money: Stories of an ex-Recce’s Missions as a Private Military Contractor in Iraq is out soon from Jonathan Ball Publishers.

Shortly after we took off from the check point I saw an old Opel with young men trying to pass us … I remember the cracks of the AK-47 bullets when it came through our windscreen. Our driver drew his pistol and fired back with his right hand while trying to control the speeding vehicle with his left.

Following on a number of successful events in various cities, join us for the first 2018 Pretoria ‘Recce Story Night’ for 2018. This is an opportunity to meet ex-Special Forces Operators, hear some stories, laugh a little, buy some Recce Inc. branded items and mainly support the welfare initiatives of the South African Special Forces Association.

About the event

This Recce Story Night will focus on an introduction on who the Recces were and are, and some information on SASFA, presented by Div Lamprecht, ex Operator and current Chairman of SASFA, followed by two presentations by ex-Recces whom worked as Private Military Contractors (PMC’s) in Iraq (explaining life after the Recces).

Escape & Evasion: A story of how an ex-Recce got ambushed by hardcore Al Qaeda terrorists in northern Iraq, how his team was hunted down and got killed, and how he escaped death through falling back on his SF training – Johannes ‘Grobbies’ Grobbelaar.

Blood Money: Excerpts from the first book by an ex-Recce and South African PMC that worked in Iraq. Stories of how the South African Military Contractors arrived in the Sandbox and how we had to adapt to the security challenges, the culture and ideologies of militant Islamist terrorists, ways we got attacked and how we countered it, accounts of how we lived day-to-day and interacted with the US Military forces, Coalition Forces and the Iraqis – Johan Raath

Books: The newly released Blood Money will be on sale to the attendees, as well as the recently released Recce Cookbook (alongside various Special Forces (Recce) mementos).

Static Displays: Two displays will be open for viewing on the night to illustrate the differences, and similarities, of tactical gear used by Recce Operators (military) and Private Military Contractors (private soldiers).
