Modjaji Books is thrilled to see the following books longlisted for the 2021 Humanities and Social Science (HSS) Awards.

- The Only Magic We Know compiled by Marike Beyers
The Modjaji anthologies Fools Gold and The Only Magic We Know collect short stories and poems from Modjaji’s first 12 years.
We’re so proud that the HSS longlist this year features five Modjaji titles – and over 50 Modjaji authors, including Phillippa Yaa de Villiers, Sarah Lotz, Tariro Ndoro and Sindiwe Magona.
We’re also pleased to see My Mother, My Madness (Deep South, 2020), the memoir written by Modjaji’s founder and MD Colleen Higgs, longlisted under the Best Nonfiction Single Author category.
