First-ever book festival on the Cape Flats announced: The Read to Rise Book Festival (31 Aug-1 Sep)

A new book festival to be held in Mitchells Plain has been announced by Read to Rise, billed as the ‘first-ever’ book festival for the Cape Flats.

Read to Rise is a non-profit organisation committed to promoting youth literacy in schools in South Africa’s under-resourced communities.

The Read to Rise Book Festival will involve events for adults and children, including workshops and book signings, and the opportunity to meet authors, illustrators and publishers.

Books (and food!) will also be on sale.

Entrance is free!

Date: 31 August – 1 September 2019
Time: Saturday 9am until 5pm and Sunday 10am until 5pm
Venue: West End Primary School, Merrydale Ave, Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain, Cape Town
