Don’t miss the virtual book launch of When Secrets Become Stories: Women Speak Out, edited by Sue Nyathi (12 Aug)
More about the book!

Join Jonathan Ball Publishers for a series of conversations as women speak out and make their Secrets Become Stories.
She was asking for it.
She should have known better.
Bekezela (persevere), she was told.
It’s because I love you, he said.
It’s not that bad, she told herself.
Lorraine Sithole will be in conversation with Sue Nyathi, the editor of When Secrets Become Stories: Women Speak Out, and contributors Melody Zondo, Desiree-Anne Martin and Cathy Park Kelly.
Many women are overcome by a sense of shame when they are sexually or emotionally abused but sharing what was once a secret, helps to break shame’s hold. ‘I am not defined by the abuse I have suffered,’ writes Nyathi. ‘I am not a victim; I am a survivor.’
In When Secrets Become Stories, women from all walks of life, across racial lines, age and income demographics, boldly speak out.
The launch will be streamed live on The Reading List’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
