Chris Hammer introduces his debut novel, Scrublands, and tells us what it’s all about.

Set in a fictional Australian town at the height of a devastating drought, Scrublands is a powerful, compelling and original crime novel.

‘It’s a murder mystery,’ Hammer says, ‘set in a country town, a little town, of heat … there’s a very violent murder. A journalist goes to write a story about it a year later and confronts a whole series of other crimes that start unfolding.
