[Watch] The Cheeky Natives in conversation with New York Times bestselling author Brit Bennett about her new novel The Vanishing Half
More about the book!
Brit Bennett joined us live last night to chat to The Cheeky Natives about her new book The Vanishing Half.
The Vanishing Half is a stunning new novel about twin sisters, inseparable as children, who ultimately choose to live in two very different worlds, one black and one white.
The launch took place in a live video stream on The Reading List’s Facebook Page and YouTube channel.
Alma-Nalisha Cele and Letlhogonolo Mokgoroane from The Cheeky Natives led the conversation, and surprised the author with some of their questions.

‘Today, Alma and I are essentially here to give Brit her flowers,’ Mokgoroane said in his introduction, ‘because I think The Vanishing Half deserves all the awards it is going to receive.
‘Alma and I both had a really fantastic time reading the book and also having discussions about the book. We wanted to bring Brit over to talk about some of the really important themes that come up in the book, and to get an insight on the writing side and find out who are some the characters that she didn’t enjoy!’
