Previously unpublished Sylvia Plath letters claim domestic abuse by Ted Hughes
 More about the book!

The Guardian reports that unpublished correspondence from Sylvia Plath to her former therapist Dr Ruth Barnhouse contains allegations of physical abuse by Ted Hughes shortly before Plath miscarried their second child in 1961.

In another letter, dated 21 October 1962, Plath claims that ‘Hughes told her directly that he wished she was dead’.

Sylvia Plath alleged Ted Hughes beat her two days before she miscarried their second child and that Hughes wanted her dead, unpublished letters reveal. The two accusations are among explosive claims in unseen correspondence written in the bitter aftermath of one of literature’s most famous and destructive marriages.
